A successful entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Ed has owned and operated more than 20 companies. He is a key investor in Everyday People Financial Inc. and Bridge to Homeownership Investments Ltd. He is also co-founder of Destiny Bioscience Global Corp. and the owner of Derrick Concrete Cutting and Construction Ltd., Derrick Disposal, Derrick Oilfield Services, and Derrick Hydrovac.
Don comes to Destiny with over 40 years of international award-winning experience in feature film, documentary and high caliber corporate video content creation. As a true pioneer in content marketing, Don is known throughout North America for blending compelling visuals and leading edge technology to create meaningful, impactful content. He was instrumental in creating on-and-off-ice programming for the Edmonton Oilers in the earliest days of the franchise, which brought about a significant change in how video was produced and viewed throughout the entire NHL.
An entrepreneur at heart, Don successfully built and sold Aquila Productions to the Edmonton Oilers. He’s also known for his role as Executive Producer of the award-winning and number one rated cannabis documentary, “The Culture High”.
Previous to his role with Destiny, Don spent his last five years as the Vice President and Senior Advisor to Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG).
Awarded Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in 1996 and 2011 and named to the Financial Post Top 40 Under 40 in 1996, Gordon has a proven track record of successfully leading and launching companies. As the founder and CEO of The Cash Store from 2001- 2013, he led the short-term lending business from a one-outlet company to 570 locations throughout Canada before taking the company public on the TSX and the NYSE. Gord has been appointed Honorary Consul for the Republic of Iceland at Edmonton and is a member of the World Presidents Organization.
Dr. Kulkarni holds a PhD in agricultural biotechnology, a master’s degree in plant breeding and seed technology, and an MBA. He has more than 20 years’ experience in plant genetics and genomics, phenotyping and physiological basis for yield improvement. Recent experience includes cannabis breeding for selection of high-quality strains, disease-resistant strain identification, selection of ideotype males for genetic diversity enhancement and analysis of genes for cannabinoid pathways in the cannabis genome.
As the former Director of Commercial Real Estate for the Edmonton International Airport, Taylor spent more than a decade overseeing the strategic planning, execution and management of more than $1 billion in development projects. Taylor holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
Marlene is a former senior manager at Grant Thornton LLP, with more than 10 years’ experience specializing in financial reporting and compliance, strategic planning, business advisory and company management. She holds a chartered accountant designation and a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance.
